The northern menu consists of hearty herbs and spices, along with Thai style stews and coconut-less curries.
Chef Saipin and her husband Bill took over the restaurant in November 1999. Since then, Thai food became an adventure for those willing to step out of their comfort zones for Asian Cuisine. Chef Saipin’s distinct cooking has been passed down from generations after generations, from both her grandmothers and her husband’s grandmothers. Her northern style cooking has opened America into the “Northern” world of Thailand.
Chef Saipin and the restaurant have received several awards for their distinctive Northern Thai Cuisine. This includes the prestigious James Beard Award. The restaurant was also reviewed by Gourmet Magazine.
The restaurant offers a menu of over 150 choices ranging from classic curries and noodle dishes to Northern Thai specialties and signature creations. There is no way to eat more than a small fraction of what sounds good in a single visit. One of the dishes, the Sukhothai Ong dish made with a blend of spices, herbs, and ground pork quickly made the list for The Best Thing I Ever Ate.
Currently, the restaurant is accepting To-Go, Delivery & Dine-In orders at their Flamingo location.
